Seventy percent of Americans with cancer are alive at five years. 626,140 will die of it this year. The number tells you the population's odds. It has never told you which side of them you are on, and nobody is measuring whether the side you started on is still the side you are on.
Why no one can see it
At diagnosis, stage and tumor biology can tell you which group you are in, with real accuracy. Medicine does this well. What no one tells you is the day you stop belonging to it. Every case is three systems moving at once, host, tumor and treatment, each changing the others. Trending one marker draws one line; a case is many lines at once, and the disease shows itself in the relations between them. In the time a visit allows, no one runs that arithmetic, and no one holds a record scattered across every institution that keeps a piece of it. The chart holds the dots. That is not a failure of diligence. It is a limit of being human.

What it is, and what it is not
Novamigo writes down what the standard of care expects for one patient and grades the record against it. It is not a treatment, and it never makes a clinical decision. It works alongside the care a patient already gets, not instead of it: the patient opts in, the record assembles over TEFCA, the nationwide health information exchange, and nothing about the care team's workflow has to change.
It runs on every patient, from day one, because no one can say in advance which patient standard care is quietly failing. Most of the time the reading is corroboration: standard care is working, for you specifically, and here is the evidence. The rest of the time it is the earliest possible sign that it is not, while still-standard doors are still open.
Is it AI? There is AI in it, doing the work AI is honest at: reading and assembling a scattered record. The part that finds the turns is different. It is deterministic, written-down logic, the standard of care's own expectations made explicit, and every surfaced moment traces to its source page.
The mechanism is not speculative
Basch et al. (JAMA, 2017; n=766, MSKCC) randomized chemotherapy patients to routine electronic symptom monitoring. Median overall survival: 31.2 vs 26.0 months, larger than many oncology drugs deliver. No new drug, no new biology. The only change was sampling one channel of patient state more often, and acting on the deviation.
You don't need a million objects to prove a lens. A model asserts. An instrument measures. Interventions owe trials; instruments owe calibration, against an object whose truth you already know.
